Consultation on Admission Arrangements
The Governing Body of Knowles Primary School and the Trustees of Lakes Academies Trust are currently determining proposed admission arrangements for September 2019, as a result of Knowles Primary School converting to an Academy as of 1st May 2017. The School Admissions Code requires us to consult on these arrangements and we are inviting comments on the proposed Admissions Policy including decreased PAN.
It is proposed that from September 2019, Knowles Primary School administers its own in year school admissions, Milton Keynes Council will continue to administer admissions for children starting school for the first time.
The period of formal consultation opens on 1st October 2017 and ends on 30th November 2017. After this period any consultation responses will be considered and final Admission Arrangements will be determined, which will then be published on our website.
A link to the draft Admissions Policy for Knowles Primary School is available below or can be obtained from Mrs Burrows at the school.
The Trustees/Governing Body would welcome responses to the proposed policy from local parents, local community members, relevant bodies and admission authorities. If you wish to comment on the proposed Admission Arrangements then please send your response in writing for the attention of Mrs Burrows to the school.
Comments should be received no later than 4pm on 30th November 2017.
Please do not hesitate to contact the school if you require further information.
The School serves Fenny Stratford and most of Central Bletchley, bordered on the west by the main railway line, on the northern side by Denbigh Industrial Estate, on the east by the Grand Union Canal and on the south by Water Eaton Road.
Parents who live out of the area normally served by the School are also very welcome to come and look around. Please contact the Headteacher to arrange a mutually convenient appointment.
Application details are given to parents during the autumn term of the year their child will be four, for admission to school the following September. Forms should be completed online. You will then be informed by the Council the following March, if your child has been allocated a place at the School.

Children joining Knowles Primary School in Foundation have a full programme of induction visits to help us ensure each child has a happy start to their school career. The children have an opportunity to visit the School for two days and parents are invited to meet with the Headteacher/Foundation leader for a 1-to-1 session, so that they can share their knowledge of their child. This meeting can take place at either home or School.
Standard Admission Number
From September 2013, Knowles Primary School will be a three-form entry school. Starting with Foundation in 2013 and growing year-on-year we will be admitting up to 90 pupils per year group. This means that in 2019 we will have a pupil roll maximum of 630 children. For 2013 our standard admission number will be 90 into Foundation in three classes with all other years (Years 1-6) remaining at 60 per year group with two classes per year.
Secondary School Transfer
Parents of children transferring to secondary school will be contacted by the Council, through School. It is the parent’s responsibility to ensure that forms are completed on-line. Our local secondary schools are Sir Herbert Leon School and Lord Grey School who will hold parents open evenings during the year.
In common with all Milton Keynes schools we no longer take part in the selection process for Buckinghamshire schools. Parents who wish their children to take this 11+ examination should contact the Admissions Department (Education), Buckinghamshire County Council, County Hall, Aylesbury, HP20 1UZ. The examinations are taken on various dates during the Autumn Term.
